If you have diabetes, did you know your oral health is at a greater risk for gum infections? When you have diabetes, your blood vessels can thicken and that can restrict the nutrients going through your bloodstream. As a result, you limit the healthy nutrients that strengthen your teeth and healthy gums. Plus, because you have higher blood sugar levels, this can increase the bacteria in your mouth and trigger gum disease.
So, what can you do? In honor of Diabetes Awareness Month, we wanted to share a video that offers easy ways you can protect your oral health. Make sure you also keep up with your regular dental checkups too! We’ll do thorough cleanings and exams to help your smile stay in great shape.
