As far as crowns are concerned, some people do them for cosmetic reasons, which it’s a great, great procedure, that along with veneers. But if you have a tooth, for instance, that’s broken down to a point that you think that you’re going to have to have the tooth extracted, a lot of times we can build that tooth back up with our adhesive materials and then put a crown on top of that. And it kind of protects it, puts it back in use for you, and you’re able to keep your tooth and not have to have it taken out and still be able to eat and function as you would with your normal natural tooth.

Keep Your Teeth in Great Shape With a Variety of Restorations
Our dentists use versatile crowns and bridges in numerous ways to restore your smile’s health. They include:
- Single Crowns – A natural-looking zirconia crown repairs and strengthens teeth that are decayed, cracked, or broken. If you’d prefer, we can use a gold crown instead. Crowns can also be used to hide cosmetic issues like deep stains, and we typically seal a tooth with a crown following a root canal.
- Implant Crowns – We can attach a single crown to a single dental implant for a natural-looking tooth replacement. This option prevents you from losing bone density in your jaw.
- Fixed Dental Bridges – You can use a bridge to fill gaps in your smile left by a single tooth or several teeth in a row. We’ll anchor a bridge to your adjacent teeth using dental crowns. Unlike a denture, you don’t need to remove a bridge for cleaning.
- Implant-Supported Bridges – To avoid drilling into healthy teeth, we can attach a bridge to dental implants.
For less severe dental damage, we may recommend another restoration such as a filling or a veneer.

Dr. Ligon is great and his staff is really friendly. I had a filling this week and it was a good experience, for a filling. Too many dentist give you the numbing shot and expect to get right to work, Dr. Ligon gives the numbing time to take effect so the experience is as painless as possible. He also doesn’t ask questions you can’t answer while working on your teeth. Appointments are easy to schedule and reschedule (as long as you know at least 24 hours in advance).
Primary reasons for rating: First rate hygienists. Very gentle, superbly managing fluid buildup while performing their duties. Friendly staff, always friendly and helpful. Excellent dentist, provides quick, painless, reduced stress services.
The average dental crown or bridge will last for approximately five to seven years. However, your restoration may give you great performance for 10 years or longer if you maintain good oral hygiene and avoid eating foods that compromise it. We’ll be happy to provide instructions on keeping your crown or bridge fully functional for as long as possible.
Most dental insurance plans do cover at least part of the cost of crowns and bridges. Typical coverage is 50 percent. We’ll help you research your policy and give you an estimate of any out-of-pocket costs you may owe. You can use several kinds of payment for these expenses, including CareCredit financing.
Dental crowns and bridges are versatile dental restorations that provide our patients with many types of teeth repair. A crown by itself will cap a damaged tooth and strengthen it. Or it can be used with an implant to replace a tooth. Likewise, bridges can be used either by themselves or with dental implants.
