Treat Your TMJ Disorders Easily & Effectively
Though the causes of TMJ disorders aren’t well understood, many TMD sufferers clench their jaws and/or grind their teeth. These behaviors often occur while you are sleeping. They not only cause jaw pain but can also damage your teeth. Unlike most dentists, we offer more than one way of solving TMJ problems. The solutions we offer are among the least invasive ways of addressing TMJ trouble. We can treat you by:
- Fitting you for a custom mouthguard that eases tension on your jaw and prevents you from clenching and/or grinding
- Easing painful jaw muscles with Botox® injections
Jaw and facial pain are two of the most obvious symptoms of TMJ dysfunction. You may also experience difficulty opening and closing your mouth, pain in your neck and shoulders, unexplained earaches or ringing in your ears, frequent headaches, and facial swelling, especially around the jaw.

Dr. Ligon is great and his staff is really friendly. I had a filling this week and it was a good experience, for a filling. Too many dentist give you the numbing shot and expect to get right to work, Dr. Ligon gives the numbing time to take effect so the experience is as painless as possible. He also doesn’t ask questions you can’t answer while working on your teeth. Appointments are easy to schedule and reschedule (as long as you know at least 24 hours in advance).
Primary reasons for rating: First rate hygienists. Very gentle, superbly managing fluid buildup while performing their duties. Friendly staff, always friendly and helpful. Excellent dentist, provides quick, painless, reduced stress services.
We understand you want to end the pain caused by a TMJ disorder as soon as you can. The truth is that treatment can take weeks or months depending on the severity of your situation and what needs to be done. For most patients, an oral appliance is the perfect solution in and of itself. For others, orthodontics or restorations may be needed to realign teeth to reduce grinding for the long term.
This varies depending on your insurance policy. TMJ disorders are a health issue that should be treated, and our team will do our part to make sure you get the full benefits covered by your dental plan. You also should know that we offer flexible payment options, including financing with CareCredit, so you can manage the cost of your care.
It’s possible, yes. Inflammation of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) can lead to pain in the surrounding muscles of the head and neck, which can be misinterpreted as migraines. By wearing a mouthguard, you can alleviate the pain caused by TMJ inflammation and potentially experience relief from headaches.
